I went to art school to paint, and I loved it—the painting. Art school taught me to welcome process and design. It’s also where I took my first ‘computers’ course in the bad old days of zip disks and pre-Creative Suite (nevermind Cloud). It was an exciting time of rapidly shifting technologies. What stuck most was that digital allowed me to use another set of tools to work with colour, imagery and narrative. I was hooked. I still am.
As a graphic designer with over ten years of experience working in the publishing industry (both as an in-house designer and a practicing freelance designer), I’ve built a diverse portfolio with a focus on book design, typesetting, and production management. I embrace new challenges with vigour and will always reach first for pen and paper to work through design quandaries. The process is the thing.
